Maestro Rigoberto Alfaro had a huge impact on our annual mariachi conference. He shared his knowledge, arrangements, and personal experiences with every student and attendee, inspiring all of us. His work with Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and artists like Vicente Fernández and Pepe Aguilar helped shape mariachi music, mixing tradition with new ideas that changed the genre forever. He wasn’t just a performer and arranger; he mentored and taught at Escuela de Mariachi Ollin Yoliztli, helping guide and inspire countless musicians. Alfaro’s passion for mariachi was evident in everything he did, and he always took the time to connect with everyone, offering advice and encouragement. We are truly grateful for everything he gave to the mariachi community—from his unforgettable contributions to the music to the impact he had on all of us personally. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the music we play and the lessons he shared.
